Beginning of
our troubles
We did not notice any adverse affects in the beginning; however
after some time, we observed that there was some spiritual force
of that idol, which started overcoming him. The occasional
manifestations of this evil force gradually became a regular
event.
My father did not
have any bad habits earlier but after those regular visits of the
evil spirit, we saw him developing many habits including
smoking, eating tobacco etc. He then started taking alcohol and
later on became so habitual that he would even consume 4-5
bottles and it would not intoxicate him. Then those frequent fightings started happening in our house, which was not known to
us earlier.
It continued like
this for next 2 years. This evil spirit became more and more
violent with the passing time. It would take my father (under
its demonic influence) to forest one
day and to cemetery the other day. Papa would sleep at home in
the night but
when we woke up in the morning, we would not find him in the
house. Every other day, we used to find him in diverse placesand in the
morning, when he would come to conscious, he would not know how he
reached there. Everybody deserted us in those troublesome days
and we used to feel helpless.
At times, we would not have food in the house, because my father
was the only bread winner for us. Though mummy also used to work
but she was working for an NGO, where her salary was very small for
our family. While on one side, father's condition was
deteriorating, on the other side, we were unable to meet our
daily needsand therefore our family situation grew worse. We
used to go to all type of people (temples, masjids etc) but to
no avail. Whenever we would come to know about any sorcerer or witchcraft
doctor, we would go to him. We wanted our father to recover
therefore we would look forward for any agent of exorcism and
would take him readily but nothing worked out. Someone said to
go to Mehandipur Balaji also, we went thrice, this also did not
work. We were thoroughly discouraged.
We were very devout family. We had a big temple in our house in
which we had established idols made of silver. Fasting, early
morning bath and pooja were everyday chores before we started our
regular day. Even after being so religious, our problems did not
reduce a bit and we continued to live in such pathetic conditions for another 4
years.
New beginnings
The NGO in which mummy used to work, was a Christian NGO.
Worship of Jesus Christ and prayers was a daily routine in the
campus. Some of the lady colleagues knew our family situation,
so they suggested my mummy to pray to Jesus. They gifted a New
Testament of the Bible and asked her to pray for papa. Mummy
came to house and flashed this news to papa, hearing which, he
got very angry. He abused her as if she wanted to make him 'christian' and suggested to throw the book away. She did not throw it but
kept it in the almirah.
The activities of
the evil force grew more frequent and more violent. He would
make my father to push to wall etc. Under the influence of this
spirit, he would become so powerful that even 4-5 people could
not control him and he would throw them away. This evil force
started talking to my father. This type of activities continued
for another one year. We faced so much of trouble which I cannot
explain in words.
One day,
this evil spirit threatened my father, that it would kill my
father by 12 in the mid night that day. It said that i like you so I will
take you away and will kill you. He even challenged my father to
call anyone he wanted to save him. As soon as father told us
about this incident, we grew tensed. We did not know what to do
next because there was no one to help us. Everyone had deserted
us long back except one of our father's friend 'Patrick'.
My father was so
distressed and he did not know what to do, so he sat down in
front of the temple and did all kind of poojas to call upon gods
to save him. Nothing changed and the night grew darker. This
evil spirit came and sat before papa and was ridiculing saying,
call anyone you want, none of your deities can save you today, there is some
time left to 12, then I shall take you away. No one can save
you.
The day of redemption
At 11:55 in the night, papa became desperate and started crying.
He was pleading to us to save him. He closed the temple and in
his desperation, he started praying to the invisible God saying
- God, I know that you are the one who sustains this world. I
don't want to be defeated by this evil force, please help me. He
opened his eyes and asked mummy to bring the book (the New
Testament). Mummy brought it quickly from the almirah and gave
in papa's hands. As soon as he touched it, it gave him an
electric shock.
He then started
touching it in various parts of his body and it continued to give
him shocks. Then he started reading it and every verse of the
Bible spoke against evil forces. He kept on reading and slept. In
the morning, he testified that he did not sleep such a peaceful
sleep in last 5 years. He felt as if he had placed his head in
his mother's lap. We were happy that this evil force could not
harm him and he was safe. So we started attending church
fellowships.
One day, while we
were in a church, this evil spirit manifested again. 20 various
pastors and leaders started praying but this time it was so
violent that it threw all of them away. We were immediately told
of a church in green park (Delhi) so we took papa there. Evil
spirit came again but pastor prayed. This time, the evil spirit
left with a last comment that no other name except the name of
Jesus could have casted him out.
In this way, our
father was delivered of this evil power. We saw and noticed the
power of Jesus Christ who is the true God. We learnt about God's
love and opened our hearts for him to be our Lord and saviour.
Since then, we are faithfully and peacefully living our lives
with much joy. Now we keep sharing the goodness of God and news
of his love with
others too.
